Selling The Wind or “Boz Looan” 2002

Produced and visioned by Antony Waller in collaboration with the National Trust.

Choreographer for a team of dancers, later to become the co founders of C-Scape dance company, and the Cornwall Youth Dance Company as part of a 12 hour mid summer community celebration in Boscastle harbour. The whole event involved processions, puppetry and storytelling, fire sculptures, dancing and music that included people from every corner of the community. Events were dotted around the harbour in houses, gardens, roadways, over walls, in courtyards, on the river bed and in the sea; we even had local lads abseiling down cliffs holding pies and pints and clogging on barrels at the bottom. The event attracted thousands of visitors.

The content of the project was inspired by the history and stories related to the village, in particular of ‘wise women’ who would ‘sell the wind’ to sailors leaving on ships in the form of a series of knots on lengths of rope.
